Sports Law & Lockouts

Sports have played an essential role in many humans' every day lives. Players have often been looked up to as heros, those who are so talented that they get payed to show off their talents for us viewers. In past years, sports have been having legal issues that could have ruined the passion behind the games if not for sports law. In the following presentation, three different lockout cases: the NBA, NHL and NFL.

This was a great blog, however the presentation wasnt appealing. The information was very detailed and it gave lots of insite to the different leagues and what they did to solve their lockout. I learned alot about the effects of each lockout. I believe that it would have been better if it wasnt so Linguistic. Also comparing with a ven diagram would have been nice to see the comparisons and differences on one page. Overall very informational.

The topic of sports law is very interesting and the cases that your group picked to examine specifically are ones that have affected the mass majority of people especially within the United States. I personally feel like you examined the specific cases and I would have liked to find out more about the topic of sports law. I'm wondering if sports law only applies to major sports and those sports markets that we know of. I really liked learning about the general areas that a lawyer must know to represent someone in sports law such as antitrust, and tort law. I also, agree with Ethan that something more visually appealing would be better in the future. Overall nice job.

While reading about Sports Law, it seems as though an extremely common theme one can find is greed. Players are always wanting more money and so are athletes. However, I think it's important to remember that, while players are still getting paid in the 6 figures regardless, many professional sports team owners are losing money with their sports franchises. In fact, in the NBA I know that many of the franchises are consistently losing money with every season. So, while the fan may easily side with the players, its important to consider the owners. I think this slideshow did a pretty good job at noting that fact.

Sports players get so much money and I find it a little odd on how they keep wanting to get more and more. Your already rich and famous why do you keep wanting to get more cash? It bothers me that certains people would do anything to be in the players position and they seem to keep wanting to get more and more. I wouldnt be suprised that in a couple years the same thing happens and they'll want more.- m?a?t?t?
