Sick Children Awareness Project

Sick Children Awareness Project
Maddy Kahn, Navid Choudhury, Clark Caron, Angeli Angelos, Navi Singh, Sean Stencel, Noelle Yoo, Emily Hayes

Our challenge statement was to raise support for the sick children in our community and make a positive impact on their lives. The organization that we supported was the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. To spread awareness, we set up a table in the SAC during lunch for two days and sold colorful paper chain links to students and teachers for a minimum of $0.50. Donors were encouraged to write a short message and sign their names on the individual links. We continued to rally support for our cause by bringing the fundraiser to family/friends, Starbucks, and Bethel Christian Church. We raised a grand total of $518.45 and surpassed our goal of $500. After sending our donations to the hospital, we were able to see our massive chain link hung in the hospital’s Family and Life Center. We were so inspired by the hundreds of GBN students and members of the community who came together to benefit these children. We had such a blast working on this project and hope future M&L students continue this service!!!

Sick Children Proposal

Challenge Statement
We want to raise awareness for the many sick children in our community and make a positive impact on their lives.
The Plan
We raised money to donate to the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital (225 E Chicago Ave 60611) by…
  • Selling individual paper chain links and asking for donations inside and outside of school
    • Noelle Yoo provided construction paper and the Student Activities Office provided us with markers to write on the chains and a stapler to form the chain
    • Mrs. Ingersoll also reserved us a table in the SAC during all lunch periods on November 7th and 8th
    • Mrs. Ingersoll also provided us with a box to keep all the money and the blank paper chains that were to be decorated in while sitting at the table in the sac
    • Name your price with min. of $0.50 per link
    • Donors can add encouraging message or sign the chain such as “Stay Strong”
    • We sold the chains at…
        • Starbucks in Downtown Northbrook 11/16 $177.57
        • School(Glenbrook North) 11/7 & 11/8 $142. 32
        • Bethel Christian Church 11/17 $124
        • Individual Sales to family and friends 11/16-12/7 $74.56
        • TOTAL: $518.45
    • After we sold all of the paper links, we gave the money to Mrs. Ingersoll to hold on to and left the paper chains in her office until the date we are bring them to the hospital
      • One group member went to the hospital Saturday, Dec. 7th to deliver the chain to the hospital
        • We hung the chain on the 12th floor of Lurie’s hospital in the Family and Life center
        • Also, we will give the cash to the hospital through a check
        • We counted the money in class and are in the process of getting a check made out to the Lurie Children’s Foundation for $518.45 to send to the hospital
        • We are sending it to the address of the hospital and special attention to one of our contacts Ashley Lavore, Box 4
        • A couple group members worked on a thank you letter to go along with the check to show our appreciation for letting us hang the chain
