Capitol Punishment

The Death Penalty

What is the death penalty you may ask? Well the death penalty or, Capitol Punishment as they call it is when one is sentenced to death for punishment after found guilty of a major crime. Capitol Punishment definition An example for a state that uses capitol punishment is Illinois. In Illinois they use if for people who commit first degree murder and they also have at least one out of twenty aggravating circumstances. The difference between Illinois vs. another state would be that with Illinois, you need to have evidence that shows actually DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) still found on the scene and to find the person guilty the DNA must match with the defendant. DNA In an other state one they find the defendant guilty of aggravating circumstances and guilty of a degree of murder they are sentenced to dearth eve with out a DNA match up. There are approximately 15 states that do not use capitol punishment. Types of methods use for punishment are lethal injection, electrocution, gas chambers, hanging, and a firing squad. The preferred method of execution is lethal injection but the others are used as (Preffered by defendant) backups. Death Penalty In a poll that was taken called the Support for Life Without Parole (http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/FactSheet.pdf) it shows that 47% of the people support the death penalty. The pole also shows that 48% does not show support to the death penalty but prefers life without parole. Lastly, 5% state neither opinion. In my opinion I do prefer not to use capitol punishment because of so many past, present, and possible future mistakes that have or may happen. Also, I feel that people who are found guilty and who are actually guilty of the crime they were charged with deserve more than to be put at peace on the spot. I feel this way because the people murdered or brutally hurt did not go out of their misery at or in possible one piece so why should the murderer die in peace? Someone please tell me why they would love to see the murderer of their family member of friend be put to rest in a peaceful manner.
