Laws about Fireworks in Illinois

  • small, not loud fireworks are permitted

  • loud, flyer fireworks prohibited.

    If you get caught for shooting any air borne or loud noise explosion fireworks, you will get warned, written up, and confiscated of your fireworks.

















DISPLAY FIREWORKS
Display PermitRequired. Apply to local authorities at least 15 days before display date.
InsuranceRequired. No amount specified in state law.
OperatorNo license specifically required in state law but display must be handled by competent individual designated by local authorities.
SaleFireworks must be purchased from licensed wholesaler.
